Four Reasons to Have Your Home Cleaned

Monday, June 6th, 2011

Life gets busy and sometimes it is difficult to find the time to properly clean our homes. However, a clean home is a healthy home and it can literally affect our physical, mental and emotional well-being. Here are four reasons why:

  1. Keep things as germ free as possible: Your toilet bowl, bathtub, showers, sinks, stove, refrigerator counter tops and tables can be breeding grounds for harmful bacteria, germs, viruses, molds and mildew. On average, children will contract 6-12 colds every year. By ensuring that your home receives thorough, regular cleanings you can boost the chances that you and your family will avoid preventable diseases and infections.
  2. Save time: Regular house cleanings will keep your home organized and running smoothly; thereby giving you more time to rest, relax, re-charge your batteries and free up your time for enjoying life’s simple pleasures.
  3. Maximize space in your home: We ought to be able to make use of every square inch of our homes. But dust, clutter, and disorder can make even a large house feel much smaller. A little cleaning will remind you of how big your house was when you bought it!
  4. Improve your psychological comfort: The look of your home can affect your outlook on life. A beautiful clean home make us feel good and it can improve our sense of well-being. Keeping your home clean and tidy is a simple way to improve your outlook on life.

There are, of course, times when we are too busy or when we are otherwise unable to clean our homes. With one quick call to American Housekeeping, your Utah house cleaning services experts, you can immediately improve the quality of your life.

Clean a Carpet Stain in 6 Easy Steps

Monday, June 6th, 2011

Some of life’s moments can induce panic in any homeowner. These can include coming home to an unwelcome gift from your pet, helplessly watching as a glass of grape juice crashes to the carpet, or finding your delightful toddler painting artistically on your living room rug or wall. Stains don’t have to be the end of the world; here’s a simple guide to getting some of them out:

  1. Don’t let the stain sit for a long time.
  2. Quickly use stain remover. The kind you choose will depend on what kind of stain you have on your hands. Nail polish, for example, is best removed with non-acetate polish remover. Some stains, such as bleach stains, can’t be removed, so you will want to try spot-dying instead. You’ll find a variety of stain removers at the supermarket – pick whichever best fits your situation.
  3. Pretest the stain remover in an inconspicuous place.
  4. Scrape off any dried-on material.
  5. Apply a modest amount of stain remover to a clean, white towel. Don’t use hot water– keeping water cool to lukewarm can minimize the damage. In some cases, such as with blood stains, heat will set in the stain, so it’s important to use cool water.
  6. Clean the stain from the outside in.
